Wayne Funk, MSW, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Pennsylvania
Hello, and welcome. My name is Wayne Funk, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania with over four decades of experience in mental health care.
In response to the growing demand for accessible services—especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic—I transitioned my practice to a fully virtual model. This allows me to support individuals whose busy schedules, physical limitations, or emotional challenges make it difficult to attend traditional in-office sessions.
My practice is rooted in a holistic approach, taking into consideration the mind, body, environment, and spiritual aspects of each individual. I use an eclectic therapeutic method, building a strong, collaborative relationship with each client. Together, we assess your strengths and needs and develop a personalized treatment plan.
I work with adolescents through seniors and specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, dual diagnoses involving substance use, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and relationship challenges. I also offer couple and family counseling. I frequently incorporate tailored workbooks and resources into the therapeutic process to enrich the experience and support growth between sessions.
I am fully cleared through Pennsylvania's Child Abuse History Clearance and committed to safe, ethical practice.
Professional Background
After receiving my Master of Social Work degree, I began my career in community mental health as a psychotherapist. I went on to direct a Psychiatric Emergency Service and Mobile Crisis Unit in Hudson County, New Jersey. For 16 years, I served as a medical social work supervisor and manager at a major hospital in New York City, working in areas such as neuroscience and HIV care.
After relocating to Pennsylvania, I coordinated a partial hospitalization program and currently oversee five psychiatric rehabilitation sites in Luzerne and Carbon Counties. I have also worked extensively with virtual charter school adolescents on the autism spectrum and conducted assessments for intensive behavioral health services in both school and home settings.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your path to healing and growth.
